5 Reasons to see The Book of Mormon on Tour

5 reasons to go see The Book of Mormon on tour

The Book of Mormon is making its return to the Fox Theatre and they’re not here for long! This uber talented cast starts their run on July 17 and they leave on July 22. and if that wasn’t reason enough to buy tickets, here are five more!

1.This show won NINE Tonys

Winning a Tony is an accomplishment but in 2011, ‘The Book of Mormon’ practically swept the Tonys. They won nine Tonys, including best musical, best book, best original score AND best orchestrations. Essentially, that means the music of this show is out of this world. Every time you see this show you’re guaranteed the tony wining music that makes it so special.

2. It’s absolutely hilarious!

This show’s creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone are famous for creating one the longest running comedies on television, South Park. This show should not work in any form or fashion, but it does! There’s a joke around every corner and it’s never expected. I’ve listened to the cast recording of this show hundreds of times and I’m still discovering hilarious moment in the show.

3. Everyone’s favorite: Big dance numbers!

This show has the ability to seamlessly go from songs into huge and sometimes random dance numbers. This show does something special in terms of its choreography, it manages not to lose the comedic energy of the piece. The choreography is just as intense as any other show on Broadway but it carries that same comedic number through to the next moment. Which is a lot harder than it sounds when dealing with an ensemble of 10-20 people.

4. Broadway level talent

One thing I enjoy about touring shows is the varying level of experience in theatre. Sometimes you’ll see a lead that is fresh out of college and then an ensemble member with Broadway credits for days. Before you the show starts just take out your playbill and read the bios of the performers. Read about the cast members that did the show on broadway, London, or even if they’re fresh out the regional theatre circuit, then enjoy the show!

5. Did I mention big dance numbers?

Two words. Tap. Number. Yes, there is one and yes, it’s just as funny and perfect as you think it’d be. With shows like this you can just tell that the perfect people were a part of its creation. The show’s energy has evolved with each cast that has brought this show to audience’s around the world which means some jokes land differently, some notes are higher than before, and that’s what theatre’s about.

You can buy tickets for this less than limited run here! Buy your tickets and I hope to see you in the audience and we’ll laugh through this Tony winning giant together!
